SUSY'S NORTH SHADE GARDEN The walk alone the north side of the house is actually a narrow downhill grassy path. Along the north wall of the house I am espaliering vine maples. I have planted contorted willows and regular pussy willows on the steep hill across from the house. Just past the house under the shade of many tall pines I have planted rhododendrons, hostas and heucheras. The light green hostas are Sum and Substance; a very large growing variety. As you continue down the hill, the yard becomes a bit more sunny. I have a few more roses planted in the back yard, including Lace Cascade climbing roses on a rose arch. You can see them NEXT.
